FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Fort Smith Law enforcement Office verified Saturday early morning that officers are on the scene of a capturing at an apartment advanced in the 3500 block of S. 74th St.

Law enforcement say they responded to the call all around 7:30 Saturday morning. When they arrived they observed two folks lifeless at the scene. One in an apartment, and the other outside the house behind the condominium device.

Law enforcement say Zachary Arnold, 26, fired a semiautomatic rifle at a block of flats from outdoors.

Lois Hicks, 87, was reportedly struck by a number of rounds and died in her condominium.

FSPD Public information officer Aric Mitchell claimed a resident at the condominium intricate went to retrieve a looking rifle and then shot and killed Arnold as he ongoing to fire at other apartments.

The identify of the resident who shot Arnold has not been unveiled.

Law enforcement officials said they will release additional information as it will become accessible.

FSPD states they approach to submit a concluded situation file to the Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Business office for evaluation. Officers have not stated no matter whether they are bringing forth any rates at this time.
